Well this year I am going to try and keep up, I do not think I will however. These are some of the new beers I have had up until the end of the second week in January.
I do however hope that the taste of beers improves this year as some of these beers are not that good. I think that the spate of new brewers around the county all seem intent on making very hoppy beers, especially with the use of new hops from America. Even the bigger brewers are doing the same sort of thing and it is not good at all.
Young's (Charles Wells), Special from England
4.5% amber in colour with a good head, some hops and caramel in the aroma and a nice bitter taste.
Samuel Adams, Rebel IPA from USA
6.0% gold in colour with a thin head, the aroma and taste are the modern hop and slightly citrus, shame.
Eden Mill, St. Andrews 19th Brew from Scotland
3.9% gold in colour with a thin head, the aroma and taste are the modern hop and slightly citrus, yet another one of these beers.
Brains, The Rev James Rye from Wales
4.3% amber colour with a nice head, hop aroma, malty taste with some hops but not that bad.
Shepherd Neame, Spitfire Gold from England
4.3% deep gold in colour with a poor head, hop aroma but the taste was ok as the hops were not that bad.
