First Friday night back out

Well had my first Friday night out in the UK for three weeks and now I have a bad head. I only had five pints but now I feel rotten, was it the beer or am I coming down with a cold, I think it is the latter as I also have a sore throat and runny nose. Better fill up with medicine as we are supposed to be gong out tonight as well.

Ramsbottom

Another of the Dent beers I picked up while on holiday in Hawes ages ago.

Dent Brewery, Ramsbottom from England
4.5% deep amber colour with a thin head, caramel aroma and taste, very nice.

Bottles of Sam's

Here are a couple of the beers I bought weeks ago in Northalerton and had just before our holiday. Two bottles from the Samuel Smith's Old Brewery, possibly the best independent brewery in the world, well my favourite anyway.

Samuel Smith's, Nut Brown Ale from England
5.0% brown colour with a thin head, fruity aroma, fruity taste a bit like a porter. The next one was a porter.



Samuel Smith's, Taddy Porter from England
5.0% black colour with a thin head, roast malt aroma, slightly sweet malt taste.



Both were were good beers.

Some Fruit Beers

I am a lot further behind with my reviews than I thought I was, it is going to take some time to catch up.

A few weeks ago I bought a couple of fruit beers, I didn't actually drink them, I gave them to Dot and she enjoyed them.

Back from Holiday

Just back from holiday in France and have many new beers to review, I have also brought quite a few new beers back with me. This added to the fact that I attended the second Fish Beer Fest the night before the holiday, means I have quite a bit of work to bring this blog up to date.

I will start uploading photos later today, so the first of the reviews should be appearing here very soon.

Newcastle

Took the twins to Newcastle on Tuesday and there was an artificial beach on the banks of the river Tyne. Seen this sort of thing in France before but not over here but apparently there was one last year as well.



After a break for an ice cream, the girls went back to playing in the sand and I popped into the closest pub for a beer. The Broad Chare, they had two draught beers I hadn't had, both from the local Wylam brewery and they also had a large selection of bottled beers from around the world.

Wylam, Gold Tankard from England
4.0% gold colour with a thin head, citrus hop aroma, citrus hop taste.



Wylam, The Writers Block from England
4.1% hazy gold colour with a thin head, strong fruity citrus hop aroma, very hoppy taste. Although I do not like my beers to be too hoppy, it was a hot sticky day and this was very refreshing.

Bell Tower

Had a trip to Beamish Open Air Museum with the Twins last week and popped into the Sun Inn.



As usual the staff were dressed in period costumes and serving beers, brewed on site in the Stables micro brewery by expert brewer John Taylor.



I have had most off the beers they brew but there was one I hadn't had,

Stables, Bell Tower from England
5.0% dark brown almost black colour with a thin head, burnt toffee aroma, burnt roasted malt taste. Had it with our picnic, over the road in the park sat by the bandstand.
