Continuing on from March trip to York, One, 2018, here is the second part of our trip.

3.8% amber in colour with a nice head, nice malty aroma and a caramel malt taste.

Brass Castle, Emergency Bitter from England

3.9% amber in colour with a good head, a malt aroma and a malt and toffee bitter taste.

Turning Point, Lucid Dream from England

5.0% black in colour with a good head, roast malt aroma, a nice sweet malt taste.

Ainsty Ales, Angel on the Green from England

Drank in, The Angel on the Green, York

4.0% gold in colour with a nice head, fruity hoppy aroma, with a hoppy taste.

Sonnet 43, This Time to Me from England

4.5% brown in colour with a good head, malt and caramel aroma, a nice roasted malt taste.

Brew York, Ragnar's Revenge from England

4.5% deep amber in colour with a good head, sweet malty aroma, a bitter taste, not bad.

March trip to York, One, 2018

For my birthday, we had a few days in York (not unusual) and had a few new draft beers, although on the first day I had beers I have had before, they had just changed the labels. So I will start on the second day of our trip away and to fit it all in, I have also had to split the drinks from this trip into two parts.

Another thing is that I did not bother taking my camera out with me, so all of the photos are taken with my phone.

Part One

Camerons, Black Forest Gateaux from England

5.5% black in colour with a nice head, it had a nice stout and fruit aroma and a very nice slightly sweet fruity stout taste.

Some stouts I have had over the last few weeks have been wonderful and nothing like the stout that most people know, Guinness, witch has put me off stouts for years.

Adnems, Old Ale from England

4.1% deep amber in colour with a nice head, slightly fruity aroma and bitter with a hint of chocolate taste.

Rat, White Rat from England

4.0% pail gold in colour with a thin head, a citrus hop aroma and a very similar taste

Evan Evans, Grand Cru from Wales

4.4% gold in colour with a nice head, not much aroma and the taste was slightly malt.

Ossett, Treacle Stout from England

5.0% black in colour with a good head, a deep caramel and malt aroma, with a roasted malt taste.

Oakham, Attila from England

7.5% gold in colour with a good head, hop and fruit aroma and a fruity taste.

Bottles from February 2018

Well I have done the bottles from January, so it is time to move on to February, here are all eight of them.

LindisFarne, Brown Ale from England

 

4.7% brown in colour with a thin head, a bitter sweet aroma and a nice bitter beer taste.

Hofbräu München, Hofbräu Oktoberfestbier from Germany

 

6.3% gold in colour with a thin head, it had a nice aroma and a bitter mild taste.

Caledonia, Hop Scotch from Scotland

 

5.0% yellow in colour with no head, not much aroma, mild slightly fizzy mild taste.

Caledonia, Double Hop from Scotland

 

5.0% gold in colour with a very thin head, a musty aroma, some lemon in the taste.

Two Crafty Brewers, Pale Ale from England

 

4.5% gold in colour with a thin head, bit of a citrus aroma and a sweet hoppy taste.

Morland, Old Hoppy Hen from England

 

4.2% gold in colour with a nice head, sweet aroma and a sweet citrus low in hop taste.

Menabrea, Birra Bionda from Italy

 

4.8% gold in colour with a thin head, it had a nice aroma and taste, not bad at all.

Brauerei Schlösser, Schlösser Alt from Germany

 

4.8% dark amber in colour with a thin head, it had a malty aroma and a fruit and caramel taste but a bitter aftertaste, it was good though.

The Cans from March 2018

I have had six cans this month (I still have some in the fridge for next month) and even though they look like they were bought together they weren't. One I have covered before but the others are all new.

There are a load of draft beers and bottle beers from March and I will cover them in the next blog.

Magic Rock, Dancing Bear German Lager from England

4.5% gold in colour with a nice head, floral hop aroma, slightly sweet hoppy taste.

Magic Rock, Dark Arts Surreal Stout from England

6.2% black in colour with a thick brown head, roasted malt aroma, slightly sweet nice dry taste.

Magic Rock, Common Ground Triple Coffee Porter from England

5.4% black in colour with a good head, some coffee in the aroma and a slight coffee taste but not bad.

Roosters, Yankee, from England

4.3% gold in colour with a nice head, a strange aroma but the taste wasn't bad.

Roosters, Baby Faced Assassin from England

6.1% gold in colour with a thin head, hoppy aroma and a hoppy taste.

Tiny Rebel, Cwtch from Wales

4.6% amber in colour with a thin head, slightly sweet aroma and a citrusy taste.

The Cans from February 2018

Not so many Cans this month but I do have a quite a few in the fridge for next month, trouble is these newish fancy small cans are not always that good. Anyway theses three are all proper size cans, lets see what I though, oh and there are some comparisons.

Duff Beer from Germany

This is not the first Duff Beer I have had, so I will put both of them on here. The first photo is the new one the second is the older one.

 

The first one, 4.9% gold in colour with a thin head, a very ordinary slightly watery lager.

The second one in the proper can, 4.9% yellow as Homer with a head as thin as Homer's hair, weak malt aroma and taste, unlike the Simpson's this beer is poor.

Arrogant Brewing, Arrogant Bastard Ale from the USA

Another one where I have had two similar beers although one was smoked, I will do them as above.

 

The first one, 7.2% hazy brown in colour with a good head, sweet malt aroma and a very bitter but nice taste.

The second one, 7.2% poor head, roasted malt aroma, nice hops malt and slight taste of the oak, the best beer from the USA I have had to date.

Devil's Canyon, Deadicated from the USA

5.4% deep amber in colour with a thin head, sweet malt aroma and a toffee malt bitter taste, not bad at all.

Cans of Beer from January 2018

For an early dark month there were still plenty of new beer to try and as small little cans (at the same price as big cans) are all the rage, I have had to try a few of them. I have had a few of these types of beer over the last year but these were all close together.  I still have some more to try but that will have to be in March

Brewers & Union UG, Unfiltered Lager from Germany

5.0% pale gold in colour with a thin head, slight lager aroma, the taste was sweet and dry with a fruity aftertaste.

Camden Town, IHL India Hells Lager from England

6.2% gold in colour with a good head, hoppy aroma, with a very bitter dry taste.

Bad Co, Slow Rider from England

2,8% a Grapefruit Easy Ale, did I drink it, no chance, here for the photo.

Fourpure, Northern Latitude from England

6.4% cloudy deep red in colour with a thin head, fruity aroma, bitter fruity taste.

Black Sheep, Pathmaker from England

5.6% hazy golden in colour with a nice head, citrus hop aroma and a bitter hoppy taste

Black Sheep, Glug M'Glug from England

6.2% amber in colour with a nice head, malty hop aroma and a bitter sweet malty hop taste.

4.5% gold in colour with a fast diapering head, strong lager aroma and a slightly sweet taste but with a bitter aftertaste.

4.2% amber in colour with a thin head, not much aroma and a slightly sweet malt taste.

Great Orme/Bragdy'r Gogath, Orme from Wales

 

4.2% deep amber in colour with a thin head, sweet malty aroma and a slightly sweet caramel malty taste.

Holdens, Woodsetton Pale Ale from England

  

4.3% gold in colour with a nice head, some hop in the aroma and a nice malt taste.
