Sam Smiths, just a list of the ones I have had

Sam Smiths are different from any other brewer that I know of, the brewery is in Tadcaster (nothing new there), their pubs only sell their own brews and there are no televisions or music in any of their bubs.

I love there beers especially the Old Brewery Bitter and when they were mentioned in a conversation on MotorhomeFun, I realised that I had not done them together in this blog.

These are the ones I have had, some are old photos and some may no longer be available but I have had them.

Samuel Smith's, Old Brewery Bitter from England

4.0% dark brown colour with a good lasting head, fruity aroma, very nice smooth fruity but bitter taste, very good beer, now an all time favourite.

Samuel Smith's, Sovereign Bitter from England

4.1% light amber colour with a good head, slight hop aroma, sweet bitter taste, not as good as the Old Brewery Bitter.

Samuel Smith's, Winter Welcome Ale 2016/2017 from England

 

6.0% deep amber in colour with a nice head, fruity malt aroma, slightly bitter malt, caramel, fruit and hops taste. I have had the ones from previous years and they are good.

Samuel Smith's, Organic Chocolate Stout from England

 

5.0% black in colour with a good head, some chocolate in the aroma and a nice sweet chocolate taste,

Samuel Smith's, Extra Stout from England

4.5% very dark with a good head, roasted malt aroma, roasted malt with a slight bitterness in the taste, not fond of stouts but this was very drinkable.

7.0% almost black with a nice head, chocolate aroma, burnt malt and treacle toffee taste, rather bitter.

5.0% gold colour with a thin head, much like the German beers I had tonight but smoother.

5.0% thin head, slight malt aroma, larger taste but not bad. Lagers are not my favourite type of beer, I find them to be mostly tasteless and therefore any reviews I do,are not up to much.

4.5% thin head, the newest of the three lagers from Smith's, slightly sweeter than the other two.

Samuel Smith's, Alpine Lager from England

4.5% thin head, the oldest of the three lagers from Smith's, it tastes like lager should.

But it was replaced with this much weaker one.

and at 2.8% not what is used to be.

5.0% black colour with a thin head, roast malt aroma, slightly sweet malt taste.

Samuel Smith's, Yorkshire Bitter from England

3.3%, deep amber with a good head, malt aroma, malty bitter taste, an average bitter but good for the strength.

Samuel Smith's, Nut Brown Ale from England

 

5.0% dark brown colour with a thin head, fruity aroma, fruity taste a bit like a porter.

5.0% amber colour with a good head, malt aroma, malty caramel taste.

Samuel Smith's, Organic Strawberry Fruit Beer from England

 

5.1% red colour with a nice head, aroma is of strawberries and the taste is much the same and sweet.

Samuel Smith's, Organic Wheat Beer from England

5.0% hazy gold colour with a thin head, smells like and tastes like a good German Hefeweizen, strange thing is, its English and it is very good.

Since the last post was done

I have had over 150 new beers since my last review post on here and the same with photos of them.

So the question is, do I start to post the beer photos again, or do I just keep it all to myself?

I really would like to hear from anyone interested in what I was doing.

6.2% cloudy gold with a nice head, a nice wheaty banana aroma and a smooth nice good wheat beer taste.

Since the last post

I have had plenty of beers since the last post but as people are not looking at the blogs, what is the point of me writing about them, it was mainly the photos that I was collecting anyway.

Part Two, Fishermans Arms Beer Fest, Easter 2018

Here are the second half of the beers I tried at The Fishermans Arms Beer Festival on Easter Sunday. See the blog before this one for an explanation.

Consett Ale Works, Consett English Pale Ale from England

3.8% gold in colour with a thin head, not much aroma, dry and hoppy taste.

Taylor Illingworth, Blast Furnace, from England

4.1% deep amber in colour with a good head, a nice aroma and a good bitter taste.

Three Brothers, The Experimentals #7 Vanilla Latte from England

4.8% amber in colour with a good head, supposed to be coffee in there but I didn't get any although it was a nice bitter.

Camerons, Sanctuary from England

3.8% gold in colour with a thin head, hoppy aroma and a dry hoppy taste.

Roundhill, Chocolate Orange Slug from England

4.8% dark brown in colour with a good head, a nice porter aroma and a slight orange porter taste.

Three Brothers, Under the Thumb from England

3.9% gold in colour with a nice head, a citrus aroma and a bitter citrus flowery taste.

Part One, Fishermans Arms Beer Fest, Easter 2018

The Fishermans Arms Beer Festival was on for all four days this Easter, unfortunately I could only make it there on the Sunday. The selection was very good and I liked most of them, the reason I have to do two blogs is the amount of beers I tried. The reason I could try so many in such a short time was by having 1/3 of pints, three at a time (as usual there), here is an old photo.

On the Sunday when we where there, we joined in with the quiz with our Mick and Brenda and one or two others. Amazingly we won, although I have no idea what happened to the winnings.

4.5% gold in colour with a nice head, bit of a citrus aroma and a fruity taste.

4.2% black in colour with a good head, a nice smooth stout, I am enjoying some of these new stouts.

Durham, White Stout from England

7.2% gold in colour with a good head, not much aroma and the taste was bitter and hoppy.

4.4% brown in colour with a good head, it had a nice aroma and taste a very good brown ale.

Back Wolf, ROK from Scotland

4.0% light amber in colour with a good head, not much aroma but a nice bitter taste.

Bradfield, Farmers Plum Bitter from England

4.4% amber in colour with a nice head, there was some sweetness in the aroma and taste but was it plumb? It was a decent bitter though.

Lord's, The Bandon Car from England

4.8% dark brown in colour with a good head, another good porter/stout, sweet and slightly smoky malt taste.

4.8% gold in colour with a thin head, not too much aroma and the taste is like a good lager.

Löwenbräu, Original from Germany

 

5.2% gold in colour with a nice head, some malt in the aroma, an ordinary but drinkable German beer.

Cottage Delight, Bull**** Beer from England

 

4.5% gold in colour with a nice head, a hop aroma and a hop taste.

5.0% a gold colour with a poor head, a malty aroma and a malt and hop taste.

4.8% amber in colour with a good head, a malty aroma and a nice malt taste.
