Kellegen Beers.

Just had some French beers by Kellegen while watching the football and even found some more that I had written about a while ago, so I just had to do this for them all.

Just realised that all of these beers were bought while on holiday in France over the years and all of them were bought from a Casino Supermarche.

Kellegen, Extra Forte from France

8.0% gold colour with a nice head, malt aroma, quite a nice lager taste, not too strong at all, well the taste isn't.

Kellegen, Prestige from France

5.0% gold colour with a thin head, sweet malt aroma with a mild dry taste.

Kellegen, Blanche from France

 

4,7% cloudy yellow with a nice but quickly disappearing head, malt aroma, slightly bitter but nice French wheat beer taste.

Kellegen, Pur Malt from France

4.2% pail gold colour with a thin head, sweet malt aroma, bitter sweet malt taste, had this one on holliday in France in 2013.

Kellegen, Pur Malt Sans Alcool from France

1.0%, didn't buy it, just took the photo with my phone, in 2012 in a supermarket in France.

By the way we will be back in France next year.

Beers on Saturday the 10th Oct

Well here we go again, lets hope that these are better than last weeks beers.

Well there were only two new beers and well, one was okay, the other was the usual hoppy rubbish we get all the time these days.

Shepherd Neame, Double Stout from England

 

5.2% black in colour with a nice head, roast malt and chocolate aroma, the taste isn't much different, not too bad but I am not keen on stout.

Kirkstall, Dissolution Extra IPA from England

 

6.0% cloudy gold colour with no head, hop aroma, sweet hop taste with a very bitter after taste.

Well you never know, next week may be better.

Beers on Saturday the 3rd Oct

The new beers we had on Saturday, were not as good as we are used to be but we did have some new beers.

First we had two disgusting pop like beers, then the next two were far too hoppy, luckily we did have some very nice beers to drink afterwards.

SHS Drinks, Dead Crow Rum Flavoured Beer and Dead Crow Bourbon Flavoured Beer both from England

 

The Rum Flavoured Beer, was 5.5% cold colour with no head, the aroma and taste was very very sweet more like pop than beer.

The Bourbon Flavoured Beer, was 5.5% cold colour with a very thin head, very very sweet with a bit of a Christmas taste. I should check better, as I have had this one before, they craftily changed the bottle.

Portobello, Madness Lovestruck from England



4.4% gold colour with a thin head and it was far too hoppy for me, so nothing else to say about it.

Inveralmond, Ossian from Scotland



4.1% gold colour with a thin head, another one that tries hard but is far too hoppy.

Reading above it sounds like a bad night but remember, we did have other very nice beers on top of these poor beers.

Two Cans from Holland

Here are a couple of cans I had last week from Holland, nether were very good but that's the chance I take every week doing this. One I have had before but the design on the can has changed, I also found another bottle that although it looks the same as one of them, it is weaker.

Oranjeboom, Premium Strong Beer from Holland

8.5% deep gold with a poor head, malt aroma, very strong alcohol taste. This actually tasted as strong as it was and it was just drinkable.

5.0%, gold colour with a thin head, slight malt aroma, quite watery feel to it, sweet malt taste, I do not know if it is just the name playing tricks on my mind but I could taste oranges.

4.7% and not 5.0%, it was practically the same as the one above only the name and strength were different but I am sure it was the same.

Beers on our York trip (first one 2015)

Last week we had our first visit to York this year, the trip is covered here, and as last year, also included is a train trip to Harrogate for the day. I did not have as many new beers as I though I would but never mind.

Little Valley, Tod's Blond from England

5.0% pale amber or deep gold colour with a thin head, malty hoppy bitter aroma, fruity malty hoppy bitter taste, the photo is a bit blared though. This was the first one I had on this trip and I did't have a camera with me.

Ainsty Ales, Flummoxed Farmer from England.

 

4.0% gold colour with a thin head, it had a hoppy aroma and taste. This is a bottle we got in York and had back at the van that night.

Next day was spent in Harrogate, and the first beer I had had before but the second one that day was new.

Black Sheep, Blind Side from England.

4.3% amber colour with a nice head, not much aroma but with a bitter woody taste. The Rugby World cop has started and this is one beer to go with that.

I had another couple we had before, before getting another new one at the train station.

Arbor, Half-Day IPA from England.

5.2% gold colour with a good head, it was okay but a bit too hoppy. Dot also had a new one in there as well.

Bernard, Světlé Pivo from the Czech Republic.

3.8% gold colour with a nice head, not a bed larger, although I am not sure Dot liked it.

I also had one back at the van as well.

Ainsty Ales, Wankled Waggoner from England.

 

4.5% gold colour with a good head, not much aroma with a rather fizzy hoppy taste.

Next day we called in at the beer tent but the price put us off, we did have the one however.

Leeds, Midnight Bell from England.

4.8% black in colour with a good head, it had a poor aroma but a sweet fruity taste, not too bad.

Next day we only had Sam Smiths beers covered on here before, so the next new beer was the day after.

Ilkley, Lotus IPA from England.

5.6% gold colour with a good head, hoppy aroma and a sweet beer taste.  I had two though.

Elland, 1872 Porter from England.

6.5% black in colour with a good head, a coffee aroma and taste with some bubblegum?

Next day the trip was over.

Beers from early July

Some beers from way back in July, I am attempting to catch up, these two were from Spoons by the look of the photos, Richmond I think. If it was the Weathersoons in Richmond, can I just say that this one is no where near as good as the others and was very run down, also some of the staff were pretty poor as well.

Richmond, Station Ale, England

4.0% deep gold colour with a nice head, bit of an acidic aroma, slight vanilla taste.

Allendale, Golden Plover, England

4.0% gold colour with a nice head, a bit too hoppy but it was drinkable.

Another trip to Alnwick Gardens

We were looking after Georgia and Emily and I finished work really early, so we looked for something to do for the rest of the day. Well we had one day left on our Alnwick Gardens yearly tickets, so we went for a long drive out. It was a nice drive up there and we arrived about half one. We got to park nice and close in the car park for retuning customers with a ticket (last time on this ticket) and wandered over to the gardens.

As soon as we arrived we got some fish and chips from the café, Emily had sausage and chips, then we made our way into the main gardens. Dot and I got a cup of tea from the café inside the gardens, while the girls went off for a general run around.

The girls had a wander through the maze, looked around the water features and wandered up passed the waterfalls before we finished our tea. So we wandered up to the waterfalls and could see the girls back down the bottom, we had to wave them back up.

After a sit in the gardens, I took some last photos around the garden before we headed back down for an ice cream.

 

The fountains were flowing as we headed back down, so our ice creams had to wait until we finished watching.

With our ice creams, we all had different flavours but I am sure mine was not the best, saying that it wasn't bad at all, we made our way over to the Treehouse. It was open this week which was better then last time we were there, still disgusted about that. It was also very full over there, with a lot of people eating and drinking.

After that we headed back home, we were not there that long but it got the girls out of the house and I am not sure if we will ever be back there.
