Only Four From January 2021

 Only had four new beers in January, as usual I did have plenty more beers but without shopping (I have not been in a shop since August last year and that was for beer), not many new ones.

Flavourly / By The Horns, Heatwave from England

4.0% deep gold in colour with a thin head, it had a bit of a citrus aroma but the taste was a good bitter. 

Luss Brewing, Mosaic from Scotland

4.5% hazy gold in colour with thin head, a fruity hop aroma and a hoppy taste. 

Arcade Beerworks, 3 (Citrus Pale Ale) from Scotland

4.0% hazy gold in colour with a poor head, grapefruit hop aroma, the taste is like hoppy lemonade, not good.

Black Isle, Goldfinch from Scotland

3.5% hazy gold in colour with a thin head, it had a sweet aroma and a bitter taste. 

The end of 2020

Here are the last four beers from 2020, I was hoping for  a better 2021 but the virus seems to be getting worse. We have a cure now but that is taking for ever to get everyone vaccinated and we are not even sure that will be the end. 

Appleby, Middle Aged Spread from England

 

5.2% black in colour with a poor head, an ordinary stout aroma and a creamy stout taste. 

Eagle Brewery, McEwan’s Levy from England

 

3.2% black in colour with a thin head, it had the usual stout aroma and the taste was good but slightly week. I know is says Traditional Scottish Beer but it is made in England. 

Flavourly / By The Horns, Fresh Tracks Lager from Scotland

 

4.5% gold in colour with a thin head, a lager aroma and taste, quite fizzy. 

Loch Lomond, Zoom Time from Scotland

4.5% cloudy gold with a thin head, fruity aroma and taste not good at all, some went down the drain. 

Christmas Beers 2020, Four

Here are the last couple I had for Christmas.

Brasserie du Pays Flamand, Anosteké Cuvée D'Hiver from France 

 

8.0% hazy amber in colour with a good head, a sweet fruity aroma and a bitter tarty taste. 

St-Feuillien, Cuvée de Noël from Belgium

 

9.0% deep brown in colour with a nice head, a sweet fruity aroma and a fantastic spicy fruity taste. 

Christmas Beers 2020, Three

Still a couple of days to go and still two beers but here are the last two I had up to yesterday 

Ridgeway, Reindeer Droppings from England

 

4.7% deep gold in colour with a fast disappearing head, not much aroma and a bit of a sweet taste but ordinary. 

Anchor Brewing, Merry Christmas Happy New Year 2020 from the USA

 

7.0% black in colour with a nice brown head, a sweet plum aroma, the taste is bitter sweet with a hint of licorice. 

Christmas Beers 2020, Two

Here we are then, the next lot of Christmas Beers that I bought online, as I am not going anywhere near the shops for a while.

Silly, Double Enghien d’Hiver from Belgium

 

9.0% a Winter Ale, light amber in colour with a poor head, a spicy alcohol aroma, the taste is fizzy spicy and strong. 

St Peter's, Christmas Ale from England

 

7.0% deep amber in colour with thin head, a sweet fruity aroma and a really nice fruity toffee Christmas taste. 

Humpty Dumpty, Christmas Crackling from England

 

4.5% hazy cold in colour with no head, a spiced aroma and strange spicy taste, not good at all.

Christmas Beers 2020, One

Well here we go again but with not being able to get out this year, all of this years Christmas Beers I tried where bought online. It is unbelievable the amount of beer I have bought online this year and also the amount of dealers I have used online. 

Anyway here are the beers I have tried so far, I will add the others over then next few days.

Ridgeway, Black Elf from England 

 

4.5% black in colour with a thin head, a strange aroma (not very good), also not a very festive taste at all, shame.

8 Sail Brewery, Bobbin Robin from England 

 

5.8% black in colour with a decent brown head, a sweet stout aroma and a licorice stout taste. 

Humpty Dumpty Brewery, Christmas Crack from England

7.0% dark brown in colour with a poor head, a spicy malt aroma, the taste was bitter and spicy. 

Moving into November

Believe it or not, I have had almost as many new beers this year as usual. Although this year, quite a few of the beers have been bought online and there are still a few to get through. 

I have hardly been out of the house since March, except for trips to the Chemist even all of our food shopping has been done online (same as the beer shopping). Aldi and Lidl do not do deliveries, Tesco would not deliver to us as we did not usually get deliveries from them, so we have been using ASDA. I fell out with ASDA a few years back but they have been fantastic over this period.

Anyway back to the beer, 

Anspach & Hobday, The Ordinary Bitter from England

3.7% amber in colour with a thin head, a mild bitter arona and a slightly fizzy bitter taste, loved it as it made a change. 

Anspach & Hobday / Flavourly, The Mild from England

3.6% amber in colour with a poor head, the aroma was slightly acidic and the taste was ok but nothing special. 

Omer Vander Ghinste Brasserie, LeFort Tripel from Belgium

 

8.8% gold in colour with a nice head, bit of banana in the aroma and a nice fruity strong taste.

3.8% pale amber in colour with a good head, nice bitter aroma and a nice taste.
