Beer with a Zoom day

On Wednesday afternoon we had a Zoom meet, it was supposed to be for a BBQ but was mainly to meet up and have a drink with friends. This went on from 14:30 to around 20:30 with plenty of drinks and three of them where new beers to me.

Bad Co, The Shy Retirer from England

 

2.8% slightly hazy gold in colour with a thin head, not much aroma and a hoppy taste, very weak and very easy to drink.

Moor, Revival from England

3.8% very cloudy yellow in colour with a poor head, hop aroma and very hoppy taste. Not good at all.

Atlas Brewing, Latitude from England

 

3.9% gold in colour with a good head, hop aroma and taste but not too bad.

And there was another new beer from the day before.

Signature Brew, Roadie from England

4.3% slightly cloudy yellow in colour with a thin head, hoppy aroma, some malt and lots of hops in the taste.

Truefitt Brewing

My Daughter bought me a pack local beers at Christmas and last night while listening to our local football team winning I drank them. For a new brewer, these beers were not too bad at all, they have only been brewing since 2012 and are doing fairly well. Although three of these beers are far too hoppy for me but I can see how well they are made. However the stout was very nice and I will have to see if the make an ordinary brown beer, that is more for next time.

Truefitt Brewing, TEAsside IPA (Jasmine Green Tea) from England

 

5.5% hazy gold colour with a thin head, slight tea aroma and a very hoppy taste it was also very bitter. This was a trial brew and it was not too bad.

3.9% gold colour with a good head, very hoppy aroma and taste, I am sure those that like hoppy would love this.

5.0% gold colour with a good head, hoppy aroma and taste, very much like the others but as I have said not too bad.

4.7% black in colour with a good brown head, coffee aroma and a nice bitter stout taste, the best I have had yet..

A couple of American IPA's

Over the last couple of weeks I have had a couple of IPA's from the USA, I think that I will give IPA a miss for a few weeks.  By the way, it was not because these beers were from the USA, I am just sick of too much hops.

Anchor Brewing, Anchor IPA from the USA

 

6.5% gold colour with a thin head, a strong beer but with slightly too much hop, shame that.

Shipyard Brewing Company, American IPA from the USA

 

5.0% gold colour with a thin head, hop aroma and taste, time for a rest I think.

Christmas Beers from Japan +

First I have to say thanks to Joshua for the lovely Christmas present, thanks again Josh.

I have had a few beers from Japan, in fact Josh also brought me some back last year, so I will include them as well. I will start with the new ones though.

K’s Brewing, The Brewmaster Fukuoka Blonde Dry

5.0% gold colour wit ha nice head, sweet fruit and yeast aroma, bitter sweet Belgian blonde taste, best Japanese beer I have had to date.

From their web site,  The Brewmaster started as a handcraft microbrewery in Fukuoka, Kyushu Island in 2002.  Only a small brewery like us can create handcrafted, tasty and joyful beer-ale.

K’s Brewing, The Brewmaster Healing Time

5.0% black with a quickly dissipating head, bitter fruit aroma, fizzy bitter tart taste with a coffee after-taste.

K’s Brewing, The Brewmaster Amaou Noble Sweet

4.0% hazy pink colour with a nice head, bitter strawberry aroma, some strawberry in the sweet but tart taste. I let Dot drink this one.

Kirin, Classic Kirin Beer

4.5% gold colour with a very thin head, slightly sweet malt aroma, slightly sweet lager taste.

I may as well carry on with the rest of the Japanese beers I have tried.

Kirin, Ichiban

5.0% pale yellow colour with no head, sweet malt aroma, slightly sweet with a slight caramel taste. Although I have had the Japanese version, this one was brewed in England by Wells & Youngs.

Sapporo, Imported Premium Beer, aka, Draft Beer / Premium Beer

5.0% pale yellow colour with no head, sweet malt aroma, slightly sweet with a slight orange taste.  As with the last one, this was not brewed in Japan but in Canada although again I have had the original.

Asahi, Super Dry

5.0%, pale yellow no head, not much aroma (what smell it did have reminded me of pub toilets), tastes like slightly sweet over carbonated mineral water but dry. I have read reports that state it is refreshing, well so is water and that costs less.

Asahi, Black (Kuronama)

5.0% dark brown colour with a thin head, roast malt aroma, roasted smoky malt taste, it was a lot better than their Super Dry.
