I took three beers to Jonathan's on Saturday night and they were all awful, one was a strong stout that should have been nice but it was not at all. Luckily Jonathan had some decent ordinary beers for us to drink and take the taste away. So let's just get on with it, it can act as a warning to you all, although as I have said before, just because I did not like them doesn't mean that you wouldn't.
Gipsy Hill, Envoy from England
4.0% cloudy yellow with no head at all, it had a grapefruit aroma and an acid fizzy bitter fruit taste. This was an awful beer.
Uiltje, Bird of Prey IPA from Holland
5.8% gold in colour with a poor head, another one with a grapefruit aroma and another one that tasted not good at all.
Nomad, Hooked On A Teeling Oatmeal Stout from Australia
8.0% black in colour with a poor head, a strange aroma probably the whiskey, the taste was nothing like a stout at all and it didn't seem like an 8% beer, sadly some went down the drain.
If you know me or of me, you will know I like beer. Over the last few years I have been collecting photos of every new beer I have.
I now have over 2,000 individual beers photographed and have realised that many beers that I assumed I have photos of, I haven't.

This blog will be therefore be an account of my quest for new beers to photo and how I enjoyed them (or not).

Midweek Football
After a two or three rest days, Wednesday was a day for beer. And I needed them, Boro are now nearly bottom of the Champions League after losing again. The club seems to be a right shambles this year, hope they improve before they end up relegated.
Anyway, the beers I had were a right different lot to each other.
Northern Monk, Neapolitan Ice Cream Pale from England
6.2% hazy gold in colour with a thin head, sweet fruity aroma, taste is quite nice with some strawberry in there.
McEwan's, Champion from England
7.3%, dark brown colour with a good white head, sweet malt aroma, caramel malt strong slightly bitter taste, one of the best. A Scottish beer now only made in England, this is an older photo from the Scottish days.
Wiper and True, Milk Stout Milk Shake from England
5.6% black in colour with a nice head, it had a nice stout aroma and taste.

Our trip to Lincolnshire
Went away for a couple of days to Lincolnshire followed by a couple of days in Peterborough, although I did not have any new beers in Peterborough and I left before the motorhome show started. Anyway although the beer and food at the Rose & Crown site was good, the site itself left a lot to be desired, see the link.
Patron Saints Ale from England
4.5% amber in colour with a good head, it had a nice malt/hop aroma and taste and was the best of the beers I had.
Tom Wood's, Hop Bunny Hop from England
4.4% amber in colour with a nice head, malt aroma and a malt and hop taste, ordinary but not bad.
Tom Wood's, Imp Stout from England
4.8% black in colour with a nice head, it had a nice stout aroma and taste and it was not too bad.

Getting back to normal
My back (sciatica) is still the same but I seem to be managing the pain batter with the right mix of drugs now. I have had scans and X-rays and have a ruptured disk, -- from Wikipedia -- Spinal disc herniation pressing on one of the lumbar or sacral nerve roots is the primary cause of sciatica, being present in about 90% of cases. Sciatica caused by pressure from a disc herniation and swelling of surrounding tissue can spontaneously subside if the tear in the disc heals and the pulposus extrusion and inflammation cease. -- let's hope so.
What this means is, I can type again (still only with two fingers though) and can therefore, get on with a large backlog of beer photos and reviews. The backlog is not a big as it could have been, as I have not been drinking much either.
I will make a start by looking as far back as last Saturday and two very contrasting beers.
Sadler’s, Mud City Stout from England
6.6% black colour with a good head, roast malt aroma, sweet mild roast malt taste very nice.
K1, K1 Premium Beer from the UK
4.8% gold colour with a nice head, sweet malt aroma, fizzy but flat, watery and tasteless, an alcoholic alternative to soda water.

Wensleydale Stout
First new beer on Saturday night was a stout, we had it with tapas and it went very well indeed. It was yet another Wensleydale beer and again bought in Leyburn.
Wensleydale, Black Dub from England.
4.4% black in colour with a thin head, the aroma is toffee and chocolate, taste is grain and slightly sweet chocolate, as I said it went well with the food. I am not a lover of stout but this was nice and it was the best of the Wensleydale beers I have had to date.
