Beer from Lidl last week.

Last week I got a few cans of beer from Lidl, it was only weak but to me it was relatively normal bitter strength. Anyway I have had a few beers by the same makers, well with the same name that is and all from Lidl. So here goes, some of the older Lidl beers may not even be made nowerdays.

Hatherwood, Original Bitter from England

3.6% amber colour with a nice head, a nice ordinary bitter smell and taste. I say ordinary but it was very cheap and therefore not bad at all for what it is.

Hatherwood, Premium Bitter from England

4.0% deep amber colour with a good but diminishing head, sweet fruity aroma, good fruity bitter taste. There we go again not a bad beer, some say that this beer is from Germany but I am not sure.

Hatherwood, Ruby Rooster from England

 

3.8% deep amber colour with a nice head, malt aroma, bitter toffee taste. Yet another one well worth the price.

Hatherwood, Golden Goose from England

 

3.8% golden colour with a thin head, average bitter aroma and taste. Only average but then again it was very drinkable.

And for the end of the week

Well it must have been a good week, because these beers are also from the same week as the last two blogs. I remember the beers, I remember the week but I do not remember it all together. So these blogs that I do, I can now see that I need them and that I must try and do them as quick as possible each week.

Zeunerts, Höga Kusten from Sweden

 

5.3% gold colour with a poor head, malty aroma, not a bad taste.

Great Newsome, Jem's Stout from England

 

4.3% black in colour but with a poor head, it smelt and tasted as a good stout should though.

Tirril, Red Barn from England

 

4.4% amber colour with a thin head, slightly sweet malt aroma with a bitter sweet toffee taste, very nice.

Strange to get three nice beers in one go.

More beers from the same week.

As the title says, these are more beers from the same week, I have no idea why but it was less than a month ago, my memory is shot.

Founders, Pale Ale from USA

 

5.4% hazy gold colour with a poor head, smells and tastes of hops, very poor.

Sadler’s, Worcester Sorcerer from England

 

4.3% gold colour with a poor head, some sort of toffee in the aroma, hoppy toffee taste.

Cottage Delight, Hairy Potter from England

 

4.8% deep red in colour with a poor head, malty aroma and a nice tasty beer, it tastes like a Ruby Bitter should.

Two missing drinks

Well I am not getting any better at doing this and am way behind gain but I am determined to carry on. The date on these photos looks strange to me but I must have had them then.

Sadler's, Boris Citrov from England

 

4.7% gold colour with a poor to no head, slight orange aroma, bitter citrus orange taste, not too good, I do not think that beer and orange go together well at all.

Wharfe Bank, Yorkshire IPA from England

 

5.1% pale amber colour with a nice head, a citrus aroma and a very dry taste, not good at all, another one with too much hops for me.

Beers on Saturday the 7th Nov

These three beers are from the night of the 7th Nov, although the photos were taken a couple of days later, as I forgot my camera on the night. One of them was horrible and one was absolutely gorgeous, the other one was nice.

Alltech Lexington Brewing, Kentucky Kölsch (Kiihl) from the USA

 

4.3% very pale yellow with no head, not much aroma and a not very good taste, in fact it was horrible. Although it was well out of date.

Wychwood, Dunkel Fester from England

 

4.4% dark brown in colour with a thin head, toasted caramel aroma, toffee and malt taste, not too bad at all.

Samuel Smiths, Organic Chocolate Stout from England

 

5.0% black in colour with a good head, some chocolate in the aroma and a nice sweet chocolate taste, this beer was absolutely gorgeous. Sam Smiths is a fantastic brewery.

Not many new beers this week but here goes.

Premium Beverage Refreshments, Freddies Fruit Lager with Mango from England

 

4.0% gold colour with a poor head, smells of very sweet mangos and the taste is the same, horrible. You never know though, somebody may like it.

Brouwerij Van Steenberge, Bornem Blond from Belgium

 

6.0% hazy gold colour with a nice head, yeasty malty aroma with a nondescript strong dry taste. It was far superior to the one above though but nothing like I would expect from Belgium.

Beers on the 15th Oct

Well these beers were not drunk on a Saturday but during the week, round Dave's house and one of them was quite nice. Anyway I am trying to catch up again.

Kopparbergs Bryggeri, Fagerhult from Sweden

4.8% gold colour with a thin head, sweet malt aroma, sweet dry taste, a bit too sweet but not too bad.

Allgäuer Brauhaus, Altenmünster Hefeweizen from Germany

 

5.3% cloudy yellow colour with a nice head, an excellent traditional wheat beer aroma and taste, I do not know how to describe these wheat beers but it was very good.
