Christmas Beers Four 2021

Finely here are the last three Christmas beers, although these are named for Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Years Ale.

Staffordshire, Cheddleton Christmas Ale from England

 

4.6% deep brown in colour with a good head, a toasted malt aroma and a good malty taste.

Staffordshire, Cheddleton Boxing Day Ale from England

 

4.5% gold in colour with a thin head, a floral hop aroma and  hoppy taste.

Staffordshire, Cheddleton New Years Ale from England

 

5.0% gold in colour with a thin head, a malt and hop aroma, it had a smoky strange taste.

Christmas Beers Three 2021

I have finished the Christmas cans, so now I will move on to the Christmas bottles. 

Cottage Delight, Stocking Filler from England

 

4.5% gold in colour with a nice head, a floral aroma and a fizzy hop taste 

Cottage Delight, Nut Roast from England

 

4.8% deep brown in colour with a nice head, a nutty malt aroma and a good malty taste.

Darwin Brewery / One More Than Two, The Darkest of Dark Night from England

 

5.0% black in colour with a good head, a good stout aroma and a bitter stout taste.

Christmas Beers Two 2021

Here are the rest of the cans from last Christmas, I will move on to the bottles in the next blog. 

Brew York, Fairytale of Brew York 2021 Gingerbread Milk Stout from England

4.9% black in colour with a good brown head, a nice sweet Christmas aroma and a nice fruity Christmas fruit taste.

Anspach & Hobday, The Pfeffernüsse Stout from England

6.0% black in colour with a good brown head, a sweet malt aroma, the taste is bitter sweet smoky malt. 

Horsforth, Berry Christmas from England

6.1% hazy yellow in colour with no head, smelt a bit fruity and had a fruity taste.

Christmas Beers One 2021

Even though we did not go out much at all over the Christmas period, I did manage to try a few festive beers.  As with the last posts, I will split this up so as there are not too many at a time. 

 Amundsen, Super Santa Choco Shaka Stout from Norway

Sadly not had this one yet, it arrived in the post with a hole in the can but I do like the can.

People's Captain, 'Tis The Saison from England

5.0% gold in colour with no head, flowery aroma, the taste is dry with tangy notes.  

Cold Town Beer, Christmas Pudding from Scotland

5.9% amber in colour with a nice head, a sweet fruity aroma, the teste is nothing like Christmas Pudding but it was quite nice.

Rooster's, I'm Dreaming of a Wheat Christmas from England

5.2% cloudy gold in colour with a thin head, sweet flowery aroma and more of a French wheat beer taste. 

Belgian, Christmas Beers 2019, Part Three

Well I have eventually got round to finishing all of the Belgian Christmas beers (I think), I did have the last of them on the last day of January. There may be one or two that I have missed, if I do find any later I will add them then. There may be one or two English Christmas beers still to do but we will have to wait and see.

Now you may think, I thought he was telling a story with all of these beers, well I had all of these beers at home, on my own, so there is nothing to tell.

Fort Lapin, Snowlapin from Belgium

 

9.0% black in colour with a nice head, a spicy fruity aroma and a bittersweet plumb fruity taste, very nice.

Brasserie d'Achouffe, N'ice Chouffe from Belgium

 

10.0% deep brown in colour with a nice head, sweet aroma, the taste is christmas fruits and licorice, again very nice.

Brouwerij Huyghe, Delirium Christmas from Belgium

 

10.0% ruby red in colour with a short lasting head, spice fruit aroma, strong festive taste.

Ter Dolen, Winter from Belgium

 

9.1% amber in colour with a good head, fruity yeast aroma, strong sweet plumb taste.

English, Christmas Beers 2019, Part Three

This is the final batch of English Christmas Beers for last Christmas, we will have to wait about eleven months for the next lot.

Milestone, Dasher from England

 

4.5% amber in colour with a poor head, malt and christmas aroma, not a bad bitter christmas taste. This is just a new label that is from last years.

Wood's, Christmas Cracker from England

 

6.0% amber in colour with a very poor head. slightly fruity spicy aroma and taste.

Saltaire, White Christmas from England

 

4.8% gold in colour with a poor head, not mutch aroma at all, the taste is hoppy and citrus though.

8 Sail, Winter's Ale from England

 

5.5% dark brown in colour with a nice head, some smoky bits in the aroma but the taste was quite nice.

St Austell, Jolly Holly from England

3.8% (4.3% in bottles) deep amber in colour with a good head, malt and toffee aroma the taste is malty.

Belgian, Christmas Beers 2019, Part Two

This is the second part of the Belgian Christmas Beers, there are a few Christmas Beers to do after this one but not meny.

La Binchoise, Spéciale Noël from Belgium

 

8.5% cloudy amber in colour with no head, it had a sweet aroma and a strong sweet taste.

Haacht, Tongerlo Christmas from Belgium

 

7.0% pale amber in colour with a thin head, a sweet caramel malt aroma, the taste is slightly sweet.

Brunehaut, Abbaye de Saint-Martin Cuvée de Noël from Belgium

 

8.0% deep amber in colour with a thin head, fruity christmas cake aroma, slightly bitter fruit cake taste, another fabulous drink.

John Martin, Gordon Xmas from Belgium

 

8.8% deep ruby red with a very thin head, roasted malt and port aroma, complex taste of roast malt, toffee, coffee, almost sweet sherry, very festive, like a Christmas party in your mouth. Absolutely loved it, the commercial description says "Created in the thirties, Gordon Xmas initiated the tradition of Christmas brews" I wish they were all this good.

But remember, just because I thought it was fantastic doesn't mean everyone will like it but in my opinion, if you are going to try a Xmas beer it should be different from the norm and taste festive.

Belgian, Christmas Beers 2019, Part One

I have started the Christmas Beers for England and Germany, so it's about time I started on the Belgian Beers. There is one difference with these beers though, the strength, the majority of the Belgian Christmas Beers seem to be very strong.

Grimbergen, Winter Hiver from Belgium

 

6.5% brown in colour with a thin head, a deep sweet malt aroma and a sweet fruity christmas taste.

Schäff-Bräu, Altmühltaler Winterbier from Belgium

 

5.8% deep gold in colour with a thin head, malty aroma and the taste wasn't that christmasy either.

St Bernardus, Christmas Ale from Belgium

 

10.0% dark brown colour with a nice head, a fruity malt aroma and the taste was strong but nice.

Dubuisson, Bush de Noël from Belgium

 

12.0% amber in colour with a poor head, sweet scented aroma, strong fizzy alcoholic taste
